The average college student will spend over $800 on textbooks each year. If you attend a four year college, you would spend over $3,000 on textbooks alone, plus school supplies and your classes themselves. College truly is one of the biggest investments you will ever make, it can make or break your entire future. The wholesale cost of textbooks has gone up thirty five percent since 1998.

There are some bargain book stores, and places online where you can get used books at discounted prices, however every three years there is a new edition of each book. This means that every three years , you will have no choice but to get new books. This is necessary especially in history books because history is always changing.

The University of Phoenix is trying to revolutionize the way school is done. I for one can give a firsthand look on the online program as I am currently going through this program. In this program you do everything online. The textbooks are even online, and they don’t cost anything, they are added into the cost of your classes. You can pay extra for the hard copies of the books if you would like them. Since 2001, more than ninety five percent of texts for schools have gone to online format.

With textbooks online, you simply download the chapter you need and you’re done. No having to pay for the whole book and no having to download the whole book when you may only need a few chapters.
